One of the most common issues with RV’s is a leaky roof. While you may think you can leave your recreation vehicle out in the elements like you would a small vehicle, this is a huge mistake. RV’s and trailers have large seams that weaken over time, due to the elements breaking down seals. This is very different than our day-to-day commuter vehicle which can weather many seasons and not have a single leak. Think of a large, flexible house on wheels – there are a lot of moving parts that flex and move as they are on the road. Then, remaining out in the elements of rain and sun impacts the sealants which harden and leak over time. Eventually, these seams become weakened, making way for water to seep down into the body of the RV or Trailer.
Annual reviews and roof inspections will reveal if there are any weaknesses in your roof, or weakness in the sealant, visible through cracking, hardening or separation. If you have doubts about whether your roof is leaking or if there are any areas that have become weakened through weather or normal travel, give us a call. We will be glad to take a look.
